Complexity in Gleadless Valley
South Yorkshire Police have launched a murder investigation after a man in his 20s was found with serious gunshot injuries in the Gleadless Valley area of Sheffield. Emergency services were summoned to the scene shortly after 1:30 am on Sunday, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s family has been notified, but formal identification is still pending.
Expert Resources Deployed to Investigate
In response to the incident, South Yorkshire Police have sent specialist resources to the area to investigate the incident. The force is requesting that anyone who has information about the shooting come forward. A post-mortem examination is also scheduled.
The Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Etheridge, of South Yorkshire Police, has appealed to anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact the police. Etheridge said: “Incidents of this nature understandably cause significant worry and concern among our communities, and we’ve had a number of specialist resources in the area since the early hours trying to piece together what happened. In the early stages of a murder investigation, inquiries progress at pace as we gather as much information as we can about the incident and who may be involved. I want to take this opportunity to urge anyone out there who might know something to come forward.”
