The Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2
The Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 is an Italian supercar equipped with a 240-horsepower V12 engine and capable of reaching a top speed of 243 km/h. Only about 500 units of this rare model have survived to this day.
The Discovery of a Rare Supercar
A rare 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 has been discovered in the American city of Lafayette after sitting in a garage for over 40 years. The vintage supercar was found by well-known classic car restorer Dennis Collins, who shared the discovery on his YouTube channel.
The Car’s History
It was revealed that a Lafayette resident purchased the Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 as a Christmas gift for his wife in 1982. At the time, the car was in perfect condition, but it did not suit the woman due to her height of only 153 cm. She felt uncomfortable behind the wheel and the supercar was subsequently placed in the garage, where it remained until recently.
The Condition of the Supercar
Although the vintage car has been sitting in the garage for over four decades, its condition is relatively good. While the paint is chipped in some places and the wooden trim on the steering wheel is damaged, the car has only covered approximately 94,000 km. The Ferrari’s engine is not original, but it has been replaced with a similar motor.
A Rare and Valuable Model
The Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 was one of the first four-seater cars produced by the Italian automaker. This model is relatively rare and highly valued by collectors. Only 957 of these coupes were produced, and approximately 500 of them have survived to this day. The value of a Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 in good condition is around $500,000.
Power and Performance
The supercar is equipped with a high-revving 3.0-liter V12 engine capable of producing 240 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and reach a top speed of 243 km/h.
